Grange Road Medical Services Fee Update – November 2023

To all Grange Road patients,

It is important to us at Grange Road Medical that you know why our billing policy is changing.

Medicare rebates have been frozen for over a decade, while our overheads have steadily increased, (for example equipment, rent, consumables, insurance, staff wages etc). Unfortunately, the GPs and Management are unable to continue to absorb this financial strain.

It’s now become necessary for us to decide between charging a bit more, or having shorter consultations. We much prefer to spend more time with our patients so that we can properly address and maintain our high standards of care.

For Grange Road Medical to continue to maintain our quality services we will reserve bulk billing for care plans and health assessments. This means that patients with chronic disease and complex care needs will receive 4 – 5 bulk billed visits per year.

Children under 10 will continue to be bulk billed for standard appointments.

Script requests via telephone will incur a $10 – $15 out of pocket fee.

All other consultations will attract a private fee, after which the Medicare refund will appear into your bank account within 24hours.

Health care card holders and pensioners will of course have a heavily discounted fee.

We urge you to forward your feedback to your local federal member or the health minister.

Thank you for understanding.
